The Ruch Experience

Nestled in the Applegate Valley, Ruch Outdoor Community School is a K-8 public school within the Medford School District. The school accounts for 77% of the district's geographical area. Ruch Outdoor Community School operates a more flexible and enriched educational model which leverages characteristics of our rural community and unique bio-region in southern Oregon. This blending of community, school, and the environment achieves the following objectives:
1) Amass partnerships with local agencies to embrace experiential
learning.
2) Cross-fertilize rigorous academic curriculum with aspects of
place-based education and project-based learning; and,
3) Integrate themes of sustainability in each core curriculum area.
It is through these objectives where Ruch students begin to engage in meaningful work and rigorous study. At Ruch, we celebrate the specialness of our rural community and the joy of the world we live in.
