COMPOSTING
With the establishment of an on-campus composting system consisting of satellite containers in every classroom and two tumblers in the Ruch Garden, students study the importance of responsible solid waste disposal, the environmental advantages of composting, and best management practices of maintaining an active compost pile. Through science inquiry and experimentation, students monitor the quantity of collected compostable food waste and explore the structure and function of living things in a compost environment. In order to learn about dirt, one must get dirty!
